How to promote your handmade fabric business
Firstly always remember your time should be best spent in the production of your craft, unless you are managing staff that are doing that side for you.
I have a free report that might help you – the link will be at the end of this page.
I also have a full product that I sell helping small home businesses get to the profitable side of their businesses as fast as possible.
- Promote from home via friends and family. This is a great way if you do not really need to make a full time income from your hobby. This method would cover your costs and allow you freedom to experiment and have a lot of fun.
- Wholesale to one or two exclusive shops in your area. Nice work if you can get it. However this method can be a very serious disappointment if done wrong. I suggest a carefully planned strategy.
- Sell directly to the public on craft markets and flea markets. This way can be a lot of fun, and if done correctly should earn you a nice full time income. Very often it is the perfect place to grow your business from – for example those shops that I speak about above will sooner or later find you here on the craft markets.
- “Franchise” out your sales side. This works best if you have two factors in place – one, you need to have a lot of stock and be able to produce fast. Two – your costs need to be very low compared to your retail, as to keep sales people (or franchise owners) happy – they need to be making money easily. You can set it up as a party plan style business or book specific craft markets for those sales people, or many other types of business models. Remember the first two factors, cheap/expensive ratio, lots of stock, big range and a few more things will all click to a great business model.
- Set up a big website. If correctly done a real website that is keyword related can bring you thousands of visitors
- Do affiliate business. Once your website is getting massive (or the maximum) traffic that it can – you can arrange to sell digital products of your own, or become an affiliate of other peoples products and triple your income from this source alone.
- Other ways. Trade shows – promotions – face-book advertising etc and a lot more are all ways to ramp up your sales once you have reached a certain sales plateau.
Once you have decided that you would like to have the maximum out of your crafting skills and start up a sound and solid business model, I suggest that you get a copy of my work from home report.
