Flea market Ideas – a Jewelery Business

A Jewelery business as a flea market idea

This is something that small home business owners have been doing for a very long time very successfully, and I felt that I should offer you some pointers and ideas to get your flea marketing ideas started and turn your jewelery business into a reality.

I am not going to go into detail here on your choice of product – I am presuming that you are already in the jewelery business or have made up your mind that this is where you would like to be.

Flea markets / craft markets/ trade shows

Just a quick note here covering a very important aspect of your jewelery businesses target market. It would help you to know where you would like your business to “end up” as starting up only on a flea market is more than likely going to make it difficult for you to grow your business to high end shopping mall type jewelery easily.

Please remember that your buyer planning to spend thousands on a very expensive diamond engagement ring is unlikely to buy from a flea market, and your buying prospect is more than likely going to be looking for cheaper jewelery on a flea market.

Flea markets will also have huge amount of competing jewelery that is bought wholesale from the east. Countries like China and Thailand have very strong manufacturing markets and do product some quality goods, so perhaps you might need to consider simply importing the items that you would like to promote.

Craft markets are also different in that buyers expect funkier jewelery pieces, but are willing to pay more. Remember that the craft markets often have very strict rules as to which pieces you can and cant sell at the craft markets.

Research your potential market

By research I mean the you must not only check out your opposition as to be sure as to what is actually selling well, but I also mean more outside research.

Use the yellow pages to see what is being done and by who, go to a lot of flea markets and craft markets and be very attentive as to what people are interested in and which types of stalls are the more popular.

Do real keyword research online, as the internet will give you very accurate numbers relating to what the latest trends are and what exactly people are looking for.

In my training product I go into a lot of detail about the research side of your business, and I suggest that you pay very close attention to the initial setting up of your business – mistakes can be very costly money and time wise.

Matching your product to your flea-market

Even within flea markets there are different ones that will have different age buyers and different levels of buyer wealth. If you plan to be selling in an area where people are relatively poor, and are coming to their flea market to find cheap birthday and anniversary gifts – plan accordingly. At the other end of the spectrum you might find a market that is targeting tourists or bored wealthy people.

Setting up a second level business – jewelery related

This one is very important to me. While my longest running flea market product was something that I manufactured for over 10 years as a full time business, I was always on the back foot because of small seemingly insignificant problems.

Back in the early days of my business I was only trading at weekend flea markets and the country shows. Now as long as the weather behaved I was making a profit. However I will never forget the month of January of 2006. It rained every weekend for 5 weeks, and not a drop of rain during the week. It took me the entire year to catch up the monies that I lost during those 5 weekends.

Now if I had a second level business running I would have been able to carry that month and not struggled for an entire year.

So this second level business thatv I am talking about is you having another one or even two different income streams that are set up and running continuously.

As an example, your main business is your flea market jewelery business.

your secomnd level business would then be “discounted” prices to members of a club that come and buy directly from you at your home.

Another option would be to have a party plan system running where you use the Tupperware type of system to sell during the evenings.

Another stream would be to have a wholesale system set up where you are supplying a few shops with your products.

Or you could run a few agents that sell for you and earn a commission from their sales.

Setting up your third level – websites

This is the one that I have become very passionate about.

My logic is real, there are thousand upon thousands of people looking for jewelery every day online. All you need to do is this…

Find out who is looking for what. By knowing for example that 40 000 people a month are looking for “engagement rings” you are able to target those exact searchers very accurately. AND MAKE A FORTUNE – because you are targeting a very accurate and select group of people.

Build up a website that fits that searched for product perfectly.

Do the necessary work that you need to do – to get that website well established online.

Now you are probably thinking that this is impossible, but I have to tell you that it is in fact very easy.

Now I have drilled it down to people that are looking for a very exact search term.

“unique handmade Jewelery” There are only1000 people a month looking for the exact term – BUT if they all visited your website would they be good prospects? If you keep them all (all your visitors) in an emailing system, you could eventually sell to 25% of them. You do the math!

Then you would target the other keywords one by one, and eventually your website will be as busy as Clapham Junction!

Finally if you take this line of research a step further, and looked to see if the competition for this exact keyword is hard to compete against – then this is the answer that you will get.

SEE? It says relatively easy. This means that if you follow the step by step training system that I have written – you can and will get your website onto page one, and get all those inquiries!
