Flea market ideas – your own Jewelery business

Hi, I have been doing research for a jewelery shop in Johannesburg relating to keywords and found some interesting facts relating to the jewelery business online.

jewelery as a flea market ideaNow if you are a home jeweler or a crafter that designs jewelery and then markets that jewelery for a profit – there are a few facts that I feel that I need to explain to you.

Small Jewelery business owners from home or on Flea markets / craft markets

Having your own Jewelery business is great, but for the vast majority of people who are owners of small jewelery businesses, they are experts at that side of their business and are not experts at the marketing side of the business.

It does not matter if you are already on a flea market or a small home business owner…

It will always be a problem for small business owners – they have to learn every aspect of their business, they are the book keeper, the secretary, the managing director, the sales representative and a whole lot more.

Unfortunately very few of us are good at all aspects of business. (I admit to being a huge failure in the financial department – I know what is going on as far as costs etc go, but have never been successful in keeping decent books after 30 years of self employment.)

Either way, what I have come here to tell you today on this post is some details that I uncovered about the jewelery business online.

If you are planning to use jewelery on flea markets or in your flea marketing ideas – then I suggest that you pay  a quick visit to the new page that I wrote up on flea markets and the jewelery business

Crafting Online

Crafters online, or if you rather, crafters that own websites are a wonderful way for crafters to get acknowledgment or profits from their crafting products and abilities by owning and marketing a craft website online.

I am so passionate about these two words that putting them together makes me all worked up about telling you all the manageable options that there are in relation to crafts online.

An Overview

Blogs websites and forums are online in their millions and this is very good for you. The general trend is for crafters to not be very skilled at marketing and they tend to teach each other which big crafting websites are the ones where they can go to and offer the products that they have designed.

While this is a very solid way for many crafters and artists to earn extra money you will never get extremely affluent using this method.

True there are many ways that a hobbyist that does not want to turn themselves into a big business, and would like to still have time to do their products and run their businesses, can get ahead online with their websites

Serious about business?

If you are not inspired by the likelihood that you could get a great income from your crafting skills then I respect that, I would also prefer to be able to only need to share my efforts with those friends that I have both from home and online and not need to make a living from my crafting items.

If you are happy with the friends and family route, a simple free blog or one of the free Word-press websites would be more than adequate for your happiness, and you could go and join some of the chat rooms and pretty soon you will have all your needs taken care of online.

But if you are planning to have a more serious businesslike internet business, then a few different things that you will need to take care of with your website. However this is rather a lengthy list and I would not have the space to go into all the details here, but needless to say that you would need to be serious about the idea. Enjoy yourself by all means but you will still need to adhere to a step by step plan and then you will then need to stick to for your business organization to reach its potential.

Possible problems

To have any sort of online presence can and in fact will certainly affect your manufacturing time. That is and more than like always be the biggest stumbling block with artists that are also online, a business domain needs a minimum of 2 hours a day for it to develop and flourish online and if you commence to neglect that side of your website then you might fail.

Another problem here is that if you do not have a guru that has extensive marketing knowledge about the internet, you are likely to find yourself chasing education and even worse applying incorrect marketing methods. Beware of this issue.

The good news

Promoting your crafts online is good because it gives you the choice on which direction you would like your website or internet business to proceed in. You could do drop shipping and sell in bulk to different crafting outlets around the world. You could write and promote e books and reports and sell those to beginners that need training.

Finally you could simply take orders on your crafts and trade them direct to people who would like to buy directly from you.

The future

I am a firm believer that the crafting industry will grow stronger and stronger online; It is becoming increasingly easier to do web seminars and other methods of interaction with customers all across the world. I am convinced that there will come a time when we seldom even notice that the world is really becoming smaller and we will be happily ensconced in it and still loving our crafting.

I know that websites that we now call membership sites will have become the norm, and crafters internationally will be co operating with each other on many levels.

Are you going to be there?

Work From Home Business tips

Work From Crafters and Small Business owners all need good ideas

Whenever you are planning to either expand or to start up a new small home business you need to consider every method of marketing that there is out there.

Using traditional marketing methods do work – never write them off completely, and you should even consider mixing old methods with newer ones.
For a great Small Business Tip example

Flier Competition

  • Plan a competition with a very popular prize. (I-pad or something)
  • Print 5000 fliers.
  • Make the competition entrant have to log onto a website and add their e mail address to be able to eligible for the prize.
  • Distribute the fliers at an event that has 90% of your target market in one spot.
  • Make sure that your website is mobile friendly
  • Use a standard Aweber op-tin form – they work very well on mobiles – with very little modification

Once you have optimised your flier campaign – if your prize was enticing enough, you should have received a fairly high opt-in amount, and you are now in a position to send a few intense marketing e mails to those people.

If you do that correctly you should get a fairly high return from your e mails.

Remember an ordinary e mail only gets a .375% sales rate.

If you have managed to get a click through to your sales page you should also only average a 3% sales rate.

There are instances with a 50%  click through rate from an e mail (while up to 25% is the average) and as high as a 20% buy rate from there.

So your best is a possible 100 sales from a great email to 1000 people, BUT you could also only get 4 sales.

Truthfully you should aim at 25% click through and 3% sales, which is 7 or 8 sales from a mailing to 1000 people.

Work From Home – Idea 2

and ice cream?

and ice cream?

Work from home business Idea

Number Two.

This business idea is one that I have always been fond of because it involves food.

I love food.

Alcoholic Ice cream.

This version of the ice cream stall is based upon alcohol, but naturally you could twist it and develop it easily to fit into a mainstream market.

However the mainstream version is fairly common and not nearly as much fun as the alcohol one.

Now the reason I thought up this business idea stemmed from the fact that alcohol is very tightly controlled at shows and festivals. The person who acquires the overall rights to run the beer gardens and pubs does not want normal competition.

This is a given and I would do the same if I had paid a fortune to get sole rights to the booze at a show.

Now the good news is that there is a fuzzy line in the small home liqueur business. Due to the fact that there are often a lot of small liqueur businesses that trade full time on the show circuit they have wangles it that they are allowed to trade.

It is really just moonshine, or in my country mampoer or witblitz. Every country has its own version.

This idea of mine will need to get into a show under that guise. You will have to convince the organizers that you are really an ice cream and liqueur combination. Be very careful as to which choice of words you use to get a stall on these festivals. Then naturally you will have to comply with the laws that govern alcohol.

You sort that all out it is the idea that I want to get across to you.

This is what you do.

You create 20 or 30 very strange alcohol, liqueur, yoghurt, fruit, nuts, condensed milk, etc recipes.

You then give then very exotic names, and take brilliant pictures of them.

You must design a stall that lights up like a pinball machine, and it must have bright colors.

You have a creative range of non alcoholic ones.

Make an equally interesting kiddy range.

Try to book on two and three day shows, especially the ones where the visitors stay on the premises, like music festivals.

Make 10% of the concoctions very fancy and equally very expensive, this will make the normal ones not seem very pricy. At the same time you will occasionally sell some of the ridiculously priced ones.

So what you would have is a combination of a “milky-lane” and a cocktail bar.

I suspect that you will be busy right through the night.

Now if you take the idea a step further and register the names and the recipes, then you will be able to take the business the franchise route. Equally you could arrange to set up at popular cocktail bars and clubs, sharing the profits with that club, and that way you could train up teams of students to work a preprogrammed club system.

So, there you have the bare bones of a great business idea. Tell me what you have done with it.

Thanks for your interest.
